About

Welcome to the Past Lives Printmakers Guild! Our print studio is an exciting new space for printmakers of all types and skills! We are working to provide a fully equipped space to explore an assortment of printmaking techniques. The Guild of Printmakers strives to preserve and pass on the knowledge, art, and skills of working in print. We plan to meet once a month, to be determined when soon. These meetings serve as a space for a general guild update including things from finances to events, a space to communicate concerns &/or excitements, and an opportunity to brainstorm for ideas big and small, ideally snacks will be present and the meeting minutes can be found linked above. Education is one of our primary goals. We plan to host a variety of skill and knowledge-building classes including intro to relief printing, cyanoprinting, how to make your own paper, and developing a series of artists talks to bring more people into Past Lives. We hope to generate more memberships to expand the Past Lives community while broadening our views on what is possible within the world of print. The Guild of Printmakers is a space of collaboration, communication & camaraderie.

What responsibilities do Print Guild members have?

Active Participation: Be consistently involved in the maintaining of the guild through methods such as attending meetings, contributing ideas, etc Guild Development: Help review, prioritize, and approve agenda items. Communication: Be timely and responsive. Provide updates to print comrades and gather their feedback to inform strategy and decisions.

Learn basic carving and printing methods, before exploring multi block layering, refinement of skills and experimental techniques. By the end of this hour-long orientation, you will be able to carve a block of lino, mix your ink, prep your plate โ€ฆ

Intro to Cyanoprinting

Explore the exciting possibilities of cyanotype printing at our new Printmakerโ€™s Guild! Everything you need to make 2 5" x 7" cyanotype prints will be provided Please feel free to bring any additional objects and materials to expose on your โ€ฆ
